Ductless systems

Ductless mini-split for a finished attic

Heating and cooling for a finished attic that the old ductwork can't reach, without opening up walls or extending the main duct.

Ductless mini-split for a finished attic
Isometric drawing of a ductless mini-split: wall-mounted head, line set and outdoor condenser

Scope of work

  • Wall-mounted indoor head placement
  • Line set routing through finished space
  • Outdoor condenser set on a pad
  • Electrical coordination and disconnect
  • Evacuation, charge, and commissioning

Notes

Running new ducts up to a finished attic usually means tearing into ceilings. It also takes air away from the rest of the upstairs, because the main duct was never sized to feed another room.

A ductless mini-split is often the smaller, cheaper and better option. It puts heating and cooling right in the room, with its own control.

We run the line set through an existing chase or gap wherever we can, to keep the outside of the house tidy. Then we place the indoor head so it moves air across the whole room.
