Plumbing and electrical

The P and E in our name stand for plumbing and electrical. We’re not licensed for either yet, so for now we bring in a licensed, insured subcontractor and manage that part of the job for you. We plan to do both ourselves.

Seasonal maintenance

A few things worth doing each season. Most of them take about ten minutes.

Spring
Mar – May
- Get the AC checked in spring, before the first hot week. Everyone calls at once when it gets hot.
- Clear leaves and cottonwood off the outdoor unit.
Summer
Jun – Aug
- Check the filter every month while the AC is running hard.
- Keep an eye out for water around the furnace. A clogged condensate drain will shut the AC off.
Fall
Now
Sep – Nov
- Have the furnace checked before the first cold snap.
- Test your carbon monoxide detectors and put in new batteries.
Winter
Dec – Feb
- After a big snow, clear the drifts away from the white furnace vent pipes outside.
- If you’re going away, leave the heat at 55°F or higher so the pipes don’t freeze.
